This unity-based game is a test concept submitted for a blind-accessible game jam in February 2024. I'm not sure how well this concept works for a whole videogame as it seems quite difficult. Despite this, it has been a very educative experience for me to learn a little about the blind community and how they interact with videogames.

The goal of the game is to navigate through levels using a sound-based laser beam. The sound laser increases in pitch when the object it hits is closer, and decreases in pitch as it moves away. The laser's sound (timbre) also changes depending on whether it hits a wall or the level's goal.

Controls: This game is best played with controller but will still work with keyboard and mouse!!

ControlsControllerKeyboard & Mouse
Move up/down/left/rightLeft Stick / DpadWSAD / Arrow Keys
Look in a directionRight StickMouse (eg drag mouse left looks left etc)
Slow rotate left/rightLeft/Right ShoulderQ/E

I hope you enjoy the game! I happily welcome feedback of any manner from all blind or sighted gamers alike!

P.S. HTML kinda breaks the Esc button so the game is a bit broken when you press esc in the browser. Either reload the page to fix this or download the executable :)

P..P.S. Idk why itch.io won't show my title for this page. Pls help if u know thanks!

Very cool game! At first I needed to disable the blind option as it helped me to better understand the sound feedback. After that it was pleasant! I think you found a good concept to dig into.

For the difficulty, maybe that simple things like a sound clue to know if the objective is on the right or left could be cool.

Awesome! Glad it kinda worked out, thanks for the feedback!

The music sounds great! Did you make it?

I found the game pretty difficult, and gave up on the second-last level.
Played the last two levels with blind mode off, and realised why I struggled so much with it, haha.

Maybe panning the audio left and right based on your position, or where the laser hits, would help with finding your way around the level?

Anyway, neat game :)

Thanks! The main menu music is not mine, it is some free cc0 stuff online but the main sounds in-game are mine.

I thought it was quite tricky myself, I think you did well to get so far haha!

Thanks so much for the feedback :D
